I think Kaidan fans are so lucky to have such a nice voice actor (Raphael Sbarge) and face model (Luciano Costa) that also do a lot of good work in their respective communities and causes. It makes the kind spirit of Kaidan a little more real.
In my 2nd playthrough of the series where Kaidan is my Virmire Survivor, I feel that I now can relate to him. Why? because we’re both Canadian and the whole.” Bacon, beef, beer. The food of my people’ line. Eh.
Headcanon: The time Kaidan spent with a Ruthless/Renegade Shepard - however brief before the latter’s first demise - steered him towards a darker line of thinking, therefore the more ruthless, hardened personality we see in Mass Effect 3. If Shepard dies at the end of 3, what’s left of his original kind, slightly nerdy nature would have evaporated completely.
As the anniversary of Mass Effect 3 approaches, I still can’t get over my apathy towards the game after how it ended. I’ve been unable to write any Shenko fan fiction and have left several stories incomplete. I want closure for Kaidan and Shepard and I will never get it.
Kaidan strikes me as the kind of guy who would read the instructions first when putting together flat pack furniture. I can imagine my Shepard watching him concentrate whilst constructing it (even though she could do it herself, Kaidan doing it would be hot) and ordering more because he’d look so damn sexy whilst he was doing it. The bed would be first on the list! :-D
My canon Shepard is male but I wish I could have kept Kaidan alive in my playthrough. Its just that my Shepard and Ashley are like meant for each other so I couldn’t. :( I just wish there was a way to save them both.
